The Ultimate Rivalry

When you think of rivalries, it's easy to picture Red Sox/Yankees.  Maybe Penguins/Flyers comes to mind or even Lakers/Celtics.  In South Philadelphia, one rivalry reigns supreme.  And it is that of Geno's versus Pat's.

Some may tell you Tony Luke's or Jim's should be in the discussion, but Pat's and Gino's have have been at it the longest. Both purveyors of cheesteaks have been touting theirs as the best since Geno's opened up across from Pat's in 1966.  These two rivals sit literally across the street from each other and it is not uncommon to see lines for both places stretch down the street and overlap on a Friday or Saturday.

I often get asked which one is better and it's completely a matter of opinion. But if you want to decide for yourself, this is how you do it. Get a friend. One of you stands in line at Geno's and one you stands in line at Pat's. You each order a "Wiz with", which is a cheesesteak with Cheese Whiz and onions.  Break each sandwich in half, give a piece to the other person and have your own personal taste test.

Unfortunately, I'm flying solo. So time and the well-being of my digestion system dictated a one cheesesteak day.  With the shorter line today, Pat's ended up being my go-to.

Never disappoints.  With that, it's off to Wells Fargo Center for the Draft.
